A contemporary new live site precinct is one of an exciting range of entertainment initiatives promised for the Medibank International Sydney 2009.
The off-court initiatives for next January include sunset concerts, improved spectator and corporate facilities and a new Ale and Wine bar, all designed to complement the world-class tennis on show.
For the first time the electronic review system Hawk-eye will feature at the Medibank International Sydney, adding to the drama and excitement on the 10,000 seat Centre Court.
“Our aim has always been to give spectators an action-packed day and in 2009 we are keen to showcase quality tennis and entertainment,” Tournament Director Craig Watson said.
“We think we will be able to deliver the complete package at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre; there will be lots of activities for families and adults looking for a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend their summer holidays.”
Initiatives for 2009 include:
• Lunchtime and Twilight Concerts for spectators of all ages
• Live Site with big screen, activities and performances throughout the week
• Improved Corporate Hospitality facilities, including shaded boxes
• Improved dining options for patrons, including new Ale & Wine Bar with big screens
• Fanfest interactive zone for fans and budding tennis players
• And more – roving performers, Aviva Tennis Hot Shots demonstrations, speed serve competitions and sponsor promotions and giveaways.
“Sydney’s Biggest Stage is ready to come alive in January,” Watson said.
