Big guns reach quarterfinals

Big names Novak Djokovic, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, David Nalbandian have moved through to the quarterfinals of the Medibank International Sydney with straight sets wins on Wednesday.
In warm conditions at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre, Novak Djokovic blasted past Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-1 6-2 in 55 minutes.
The world No.3 looked a much improved player compared to his first round loss to Ernests Gulbis at last week’s Brisbane International.
Djokovic will play big-serving Croatian Mario Ancic in the quarterfinals after Ancic easily accounted for Spain’s Tommy Robredo 6-2 6-1.
Earlier, Frenchman Tsonga was far too good for Italian Simone Bolelli, winning 6-4 6-1.
While the victory was comfortable, last year’s Australian Open finalist was troubled by a back complaint at times, the third seed twice receiving treatment on Ken Rosewall Arena.
He played down injury concerns after the match, saying he was simply stiff.
On court one, fourth seed Nalbandian breezed through his match with Michael Llodra, easing to a 6-1 6-3 win.
The Argentine will take on the winner of Lleyton Hewitt and Serb Janko Tipsarevic for a place in the semifinals.
Tsonga faces the winner of the Chris Guccione-Jarko Nieminen clash.
