Australian No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt will begin his quest for a fifth Medibank International Sydney title on Wednesday at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre.
Hewitt, champion in 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2005, will play Italian Andreas Seppi on Ken Rosewall Arena for a spot in the quarter finals.
Hewitt said he was expecting the encounter with Seppi to be a difficult one but was looking forward to getting back on the court he regards as one of his favourites.
“I lost a tight match with Seppi here a few years ago and even had a match point,” Hewitt said.
“So it won’t be an easy match.”
Hewitt, currently ranked No. 22 on the ATP World Tour, and Seppi (No.49) have played three times before with the Italian leading their series 2-1.
They met in the 2006 Medibank International Sydney quarter finals, which Seppi won 4-6 7-5 7-5.
A full match schedule will be released later in the day and tickets for both the Wednesday day and night sessions are available through Ticketek – www.ticketek.com.au or 1300 888 104.
The Medibank International Sydney will be held at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre from Sunday 10 January to Saturday 16 January 2010.
